If the store didn't describe these as waterproof, then I would give these four stars. However, they're not waterproof and they're not good to wear in cold weather below 4 degrees. So, don't wear them in extreme cold/wet conditions and keep them for cool, spring or autumn mornings.
I bought these because I was looking for something to get me from the fall to the winter, down to 25 degrees or so, when I start using my winter gloves. They are impressively comfortable, and definitely windproof, even when wet. There are several other thoughtful features, like reflective stripes, and friction spots on the forefingers, middle-fingers, and thumbs to make shifting easier. On the downside, even though I did not expect them to be waterproof, I had hoped they might be somewhat water resistant, but, I quickly discovered that they were not at all. I am a commuter, so if it rains on my way to work, my gloves are wet all day, and these do not dry by the time I leave, so the ride home can be quite cold and uncomfortable. That said, if you are not planning on using these in the rain then I would recommend them 100%, but definitely don't expect them to be waterproof.
